Chardon United Methodist Church

Keven Prather, Chair of our Stewardship Development Committee, reported on December 14, the positive news of the conclusion of our stewardship emphasis, “Irresistible Invitation: Responding to the Extravagant Heart of God”.  More than 180 people were involved in the small group study!   To date we received 175 financial commitments, totaling $447,011 for the Operating Budget and $16,640 for ’Second Mile’ Giving (capital projects and maintenance).  There was also a huge response of people making time, talents, and energy commitments, so large we are still categorizing the data.  Using estimates of non-pledged income from all other sources, we are projecting 2009 income to be over $625,000.  Projected expenditures are estimated as $633,000 - which puts us closer to a balanced budget than we have been in years!  Thanks to all, and praises to God for the most successful stewardship effort in ten years!

On December 30 the Finance Committee approved the paying of our 2008 ‘Connectional Ministry’ obligation (Apportionment) in full.  Although we have drained our non-restricted cash reserves in order to make a 100% contribution we believe we had to step out in faith and meet this important obligation.
