Building Houses in Partnership With God's People in Need

Geauga County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat International, a non-profit ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eradicating poverty housing from the world and to make simple, decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Volunteers from Chardon United Methodist Church support and often participate in home building projects in Geauga County (as well as other locations). Geauga County Habitat for Humanity typically build 3 to 4 homes per year for families in need. Nearly all labor is donated by volunteers.

Habitat does not give homes away. Families earn less than 60% of the local median income, contribute 500 sweat equity hours, and purchase their homes through a no-interest loan based on federal affordability guidelines.
