Be a part of the Hospitality Team! We've been meeting to review questions "Five Practices" by Robert Schnase, to see how we can be the most welcoming church in Chardon!
What exactly is “radical hospitality”?
Radical hospitality is welcoming others as Christ has welcomed us. It is focusing on those outside our church with as much compassion and love as we focus on those within our congregation. It is hospitality that exceeds all expectation, an unexpected grace that people experience in every element of a church’s life. Members are outward-looking and have an invitational posture. Visitors feel like, “People really care about me here. People are interested in the well-being of me and my family. I feel the love of God in this congregation.”

2010 Masindi Mission Team |
|
|
|
|
The 2010 mission team left for Masindi, Uganda on Tuesday, July 6th. There was a send off here at the church at 1:30pm. There are 16 in this team and they covet your prayers, until they return on July 28th. The team includes our Pastor, who plans to have reports from the team in our worship services. Meet the 2010 Masindi Mission Team.
In their final meeting, they packed medical supplies, school supplies, sponsor letters/packages and whatever items of need in Uganda that they could fit in their bags! We are also blessed by the gift raised by so many for the purchase of mosquito nets. The team will purchase mosquito nets in the capital city Kampala upon their arrival. They will treat the nets with insecticide and then give them to the people of Masindi.
You may keep up with the team and their progress at www.masindieducation.org. Several of the team will be blogging (writing little notes), when they have access to the Internet. |

New security measures have been implemented over the summer. You will notice as you come in the south side (main) entrance a ‘call button’ has been installed on the wall to your right. When the office is open the exterior doors (1st set of double doors) will be kept unlocked. The second set of doors (entering the Atrium) will be locked.
To access the lobby:
- Press the call button.
- Staff will answer your call and release the lock
To exit press the ‘Push to Exit’ button on wall to right as you face the doors.
When the office is closed (including when staff is out to lunch) the exterior doors will be locked. Anyone who has key access will be able to unlock the exterior doors, and the Atrium double doors will be unlocked. These security measures will not affect anyone attending evening meetings and will not be in effect during church related functions such as weddings, funerals, worship services and other large events.
This type of tightened security is taking place in churches all over Geauga County, including many of the churches in Chardon itself. We believe these measures are warranted in order to maintain the safety of our staff and the security of the building.
Thank you for your understanding,
The Trustees |

On Saturday, July 3rd, several volunteers from the church and Melkerson Signs installed a new sign on the front of our Sanctuary (facing North Street). This sign was purchased with 2nd mile contributions. It should help to improve our "curb appeal" and the awareness of our church.

Feed My People leaves Chardon UMC |
|
|
|
|
Feed My People, the community-based mission that provides food for those in need, will be leaving Chardon UMC during the month of June after four years here. Although Feed My People is leaving, we ask that you keep them in your prayers for continued mission to those who need their service. Feed My People expressed gratitude for the four years we have provided their operations base. We celebrate their mission and your support.
