We are purchasing flocks of chicks for January. Did you know:
- Every egg that a chicken lays is a lifesaving gift for a hungry child.
- And since a fully grown hen can lay more than 200 eggs a year, your gift representing a starter flock of 10 to 50 chicks is an especially effective way to help families in need.
- Chickens require very little space and can thrive on readily available feed or pests like insects, so they are often a perfect fit for families living in the most extreme poverty.
- But best of all, their eggs are packed with protein and essential minerals like iron and zinc. In fact, a single egg can provide about 10% of a child’s daily zinc and iron requirements.
- Yet right now about half the children in the developing world are iron deficient and almost 1 million will die this year because they did not get enough zinc in their diet to build a strong immune system.
Thank you for supporting our offering project. At a price of $20 per flock of chicks, we currently can purchase 17 flocks of chicks. HOORAY!
