Rev. Daniel Drew presented this very interesting topic.
Anna Mary Robertson Moses, better known as Grandma Moses, the famous “primitive artist”, began her painting career at age 78. Over the next 23 years, she became an American icon, while creating over 1,600 paintings of the landscape she knew so well. She visited her “Ohio cousins” in August of 1941, and stayed with Rev. Drew’s grandmother in Mt. Liberty.
Mrs. Drew collected memorabilia about Grandma Moses, her life and her work, for over 50 years. The family also visited Grandma Moses in her home in upstate New York four times before her death in 1961. As a result, Pastor Drew has over 200 pieces of a collection of her art, and stories about her life and work from books and magazine articles, some of which he presented.
