Contest Results

Eleven homemade pies made their way to our Hayden Hall kitchen, when a distinguished panel of Judges reviewed the appearance, taste and texture of the single and  double crust delights! The assortment of cream and fruit pies challenged the taste buds of Mary Melkerson, Helen Thomas and Rev. Dan Drew.  This knowledgeable trio sampled each pie and individually scored the entry, their scores were added together and the pies with the highest scores won.

 Grand Prize Winner

Hazel Porz (Sour Cherry)

Single Crust:

1st – John Eltzroth (Sugar Cream)
2nd – Mary Brown (Apple Crumb Caramel)
3rd – Mary Brown (Chocolate Cream Whip Cream Top)

Double Crust:

1st – Hazel Porz (Sour Cherry)
2nd – John Eltzroth (Sugar Cream)
3rd – Kathy Baird (Cherry Lattice)

Hazel earned one year of bragging rights!
  

The United Methodist Women wish to thank all the pie bakers of our church who donated the great pies, the expert judges and the generous members who purchased the great entries.  Your support generated $193.  These  dollars will be used for our local mission projects.  Thanks to everyone who helped make this a fun event!
