I am excited about the many ministries we have here in our church and I know it will be even more exciting as we continue to add new members to our dynamic congregation. One of the mottos of the United Methodist Church is:
“Open Minds, Open Hearts, Open Doors ... The People of the United Methodist Church “
It is a great slogan, but as is often the case it is easier to say than to do. I believe we want to have “Open Minds, Hearts, and Doors” to welcome in new persons to our community of faith and to our church. We have many new persons in our worship services now, and some familiar persons who we need to welcome into our Chardon United Methodist family. So I will be “opening the doors of the church” at our worship services at least once a month, in October it will be Sunday the 18th. “Opening the doors” will become a part of our worship-time response to God’s call upon our lives. It will allow us to renew our faith and welcome and introduce new persons to our congregation on a regular basis.
The commission on Membership and Evangelism is planning “membership fellowships” for three Thursday evenings October 1, 8, and 15th, from 7:00 to 9:00pm, in the Church Lobby. These fellowships are for anyone interested in or even just thinking about joining our growing congregation. Each of these “fellowships” will include meeting new people and our church staff and officers, as well as covering some of the basics of our Wesleyan heritage and history, Chardon UMC history and current structure and other topics of interest, taken from questions raised.
Current members and friends of Chardon UMC are welcome to come and participate in these times of fellowship and spiritually growing as you are able. The Commission on Membership and Evangelism is also seeking members who would desire to serve as “faith friends” to our new members. If you are Interested in being a “faith friend”, please connect with Matt Knecht.
I hope and pray that we will all be diligent and an active in “Opening the doors” of our church and welcoming new persons to come and work with us in doing God’s kingdom work here in Chardon.
Blessed to be on Christ’s team! Pastor Dan |
