Pentecost is May 23rd!
Pentecost is the Church’s Birthday Party!
Pentecost is the day of Confirmation for our youth!
Pentecost is the day of welcoming new persons into our church!
Pentecost is the renewal of our commitment to our church!
Pentecost celebrates God’s gift of the Holy Spirit to the followers of Jesus. 

(Based upon the Acts of the Apostles – Chapter 2.)  For the five Sundays is May we are going to prepare for and celebrate Pentecost and the reenergizing of our church.

It takes fuel to produce energy.  We need energy to produce power.  We need to be empowered to achieve our mission, “To make and mature Disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world”.

God gives us the fuel we need and expects us to produce the energy for the “Kingdom work” of our mission. I invite you to worship during the month of May as we explore the power, fuel, and energy that God gives to us to be His Church in 2010.

We have much to celebrate, as our church is alive with the excitement of Confirmation for some of our young people who have been preparing this year with the help of mentors, parents, teachers, and others for this event of their lives.  In a greater sense others have been preparing them since the day of their baptism.  As we witness Confirmation, and we proclaim God’s call upon our own lives we recognize that God’s Holy Spirit is upon us and He has transformed us, so that we can transform the world around us.

In the Sundays before and after Pentecost, we will be looking at how God prepared the disciples to receive and use the Holy Spirit in their lives.  Further, we will learn how God continues to prepare and use us as transformers in the world around us.
