Dear Friends in Christ,
As we proceed in Lent I want to present you with four challenges. I have entitled them:
God Loves You and There is Something You Can Do About it - RESPOND

You can “Respond” to God’s love be giving yourself more fully to God. Here are my four challenges for Lent 2011 at Chardon United Methodist Church:

1. Recognize that you are a person of Great Worth to God
Romans 5:8
“… God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”
Carry the Nail - improve your life. You can pick up a special nail today along with a meditation from Pastor Dan about carrying a nail during the Lenten season.
2. Grow in the Word of God
Read, Study and Reflect on God’s word during Lent. Pledge to read a spiritual book, or a book that further explains the bible, a daily devotional, join a Bible Study, or even enjoy some movies that uplift the word of God more fully.
3. Grow in Prayer by increasing your prayer life
Based upon I Thessalonians 5:17
“Pray Constantly”
Pray for yourself, for Others, for Issues in Our World.
4. Maintain the Temple
I Corinthians 6:19-20
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which is from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Challenge yourself to give God the best body that you can through diet, meditation and exercise. See a separate flier about our walking program.

I want to see our church become an interactive community where we share with each other what we are reading, learning, studying, and doing to “RESPOND” to God’s unconditional love for us.  I look forward to hearing from you!
