Youth Group Set Sails For a New Year PDF Print E-mail

altThe Chardon United Methodist Church confirmation class and Oasis Youth Group had another successful kick-off for a new year of learning, sharing, and spiritual formation.  Capt. John Eltzroth and Leigh Garam (from Lake Metroparks) arranged to hold the event at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park Beach.

The confirmation class arrived at the lake at 1:30 pm and spent some time in team-building activities.  Then they launched the kayaks and rowed the harbor, while we rigged the sailboats.

John and two other sailing instructors taught our youth the basics of sailing.  The youth used kayaks and played beach volleyball while they waited to sail.  Sailing was followed by a cookout and a life lesson presented around a campfire by John Eltzroth.
